Here are some mobile usage statistics:
  • Smartphone sales up 96% year-on-year 2010-11;
  • Tablet volumes expected to be 54.8 million by end of 2011;
  • Over 75 million phones are in use in the UK (1.22 per head of population);
  • 11.1 million fewer PCs will be made in 2011 as "Tablets” take market share;
  • Apple, who are a distant second to Android in adoption rates, has sold almost 60 million iPhones. 53% of businesses have now "deployed” iPhones. By June 2010 there were over 225,000 Apps on iTunes, with over 3 billion downloads. App expenditure is expected to be in excess of $29.5 billion by 2013.
